I finished the Easy Double Hourglass Quilt top, and I love it!
It looks different from the photos last week -- I decided to add the large polka dot fabric to make it brighter and more fun.
But now I can't decide how to quilt it!
Straight lines running diagonally?
Wavy lines? (I love how Lee did wavy line quilting here!)
Wavy lines? (I love how Lee did wavy line quilting here!)
Free motion quilting?
Spiraling circles in the middle of each square?
This is an awesome quilt top! The fabric selection is great too :)
ReplyDeleteLove the Freebird polka dot you added!! I'd vote those spiraling circles, that sounds really awesome with such a geometric quilt design. :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome quilt!!! I love spiral quilting, but I don't know how to do them :(
ReplyDeleteWhoa! Nice quilt. I'd do spirals or even concentric circles.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of contrasting the straight lines of the quilt with circles.
ReplyDeleteI'm not an experienced quilter (the disclaimer is to explain that I don't have enough experience to judge my own suggestion on the scale of terrible to really great) but what about a triangle-y pattern in the white and leaving the patterned fabrics as is? I do also like the idea of spirals or concentric circles.
ReplyDeletethe colours are beautiful.....so cheerful...I go for the spirals myself....listen to me; you would think it was easy....lol
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty! Came out great. I like the wavy lines too. I use that stich alot, gives it something more than just the straight in the ditch or to the side . . . plus, if it wavers a bit no one notices!
ReplyDeleteOh, what a *stunning* quilt!
ReplyDeleteI'm also no help in the quilting decision, but I'm sure whatever you decide will look great. :)
What a happy quilt!! It looks great.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great quilt!
ReplyDeleteLove it! This pattern is on my to-do list, it always comes out great. I have no advice on quilting. That's always the part that stumps me.
ReplyDeleteThe polka-dots certainly do add some happiness and playfulness to the quilt!
ReplyDeleteAs for quilting, I'd definitely go with some sort of free motioned curvy design to offset all the hard angles. The circles someone else mentioned sound cool.
What a vibrant quilt! I love it.
ReplyDeletethe polka dots are great, especially with the pop of blue here and there. I would give advice on quilting, except I don't know how to do my own quilting, although someone once told me that "lines love curves" so something swirly would probably be awesome.
ReplyDeleteI'm a total sucker for red and green quilts so I REALLY like this quilt!
Oh wow, it's just gorgeous. I love this pattern, I need to do one myself!
ReplyDeleteAs for the quilting, thanks for the shout-out on my wavy lines! But I have to say, I love the spirals idea. How do you do it - do you mark the top for that, or just wing it? Please share your tips, I'd love to try it!
Thanks for linking up with WIP Wednesday, have a fabulous week! : )
I really like how this quilt has come together. As for quilting, I'm curious as to see how the spirals will take!
ReplyDeleteWhat about big echo quilted squares on point?
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt top! It looks like your points are totally perfect... how do you do that? It really looks amazing. I can't wait to see how you end up quilting it. :)
