Works in Progress Wednesday

I feel like I spent all my free time this week looking at this:

 and this:

sneak peak at the quilting on Lexi's tree quilt, so far
the grass and sky need something - wavy lines/straight lines?
I finished quilting my Supernova, and am ready to hand sew the binding.  My husband and I are a few episodes behind on our Glee watching, so this should work out well.  I need to finish the quilting on the tree quilt (above) for Lexi, and then decide on binding.  I'm thinking stripes -- but not for sure.  The rest of the quilt is solids, so I'm not sure how that would look -- we'll see!
one of my favorite blocks

binding is on, ready to go!

My only problem was this:

Has anyone had this problem with their sliding mat for FMQ?  It doesn't seem to be sticky on the underneath side anymore, and I quilted right into it (and wasn't able to easily rip the stitches out)!  Huge bummer!  This was part of the reason I decided to quilt my Supernova with straight lines.

Also finished up this:

for the Pretty Little Pouch Swap -- finally!  My partner is probably wondering where her pouch is, with all the finished pouches posted to flickr lately.  It's coming, I promise!  I used Noodlehead's gathered clutch tutorial, but pieced the middle section to coordinate with the lining.  I used linen for the outside, and love the way it wrinkled/gathered!

  2. Your SuperNova quilt came out great. I know it wasn't your first choice, but I really like the straight line quilting. Also, the pebble quilting on the tree quilt is so nice. Great job! You've been busy!

  3. Very pretty little pouch. I have some extra linen to use up. I think you might have inspired me to make my own pouch!

  4. FMQ sliding mat? Suddenly feeling dense...what is that? I love the different quilting you've been doing, especially the pebbles, they look fantastic! Happy Wip Wednesday!

  5. Love your supernova! It's beautiful. I have no idea what a FMQ mat is so I can't help you there. Love that quilting on the tree quilt. Definitely some straight and wavy lines to break it up.

  6. The slidy mat, just hold it under the tap and rub off the lint, etc. and let it dry on the counter. It will be like new again. I wash mine off every time I use it, I don't use soap, not sure if it would leave a residue.

I love the quilting you are doing on the tree quilt and the pouch is wonderful! I am looking forward to seeing the supernova done!

  16. Thank god Elizabeth asked what an FMQ sliding mat was, because I had no idea either! I just finished my first FMQ'ed quilt, and I suddenly wondered if I did it without a crucial piece of equipment! What is that and what is it used for?

At any rate, your Supernova looks amazing. Thanks for quilting along with me. Thanks for linking up to WIP Wednesday, and happy Mother's Day. : )
