I am so in love with this Summer Sampler Quilt!
It was such fun to make,
and I loved matching solids with my stash of DS Quilts fabrics.
Read more about it here.
I finished up two quilt tops this week!
Neither of them were very large, so once I actually sat down to sew,
it didn't take very long. Now, it's onto the quilting!
For the Kaleidoscope quilt below, I plan to do an all over meander,
but I'm debating the thread color -- cream? green? brown?
Bee blocks for the 4 x 5 Modern Bee
This is my not-very-successful-gardening-work-in-progress.
I'm guessing that these blueberries didn't like being buried in weeds all summer.
Since our crop isn't the best,
we're heading off on a blueberry picking adventure today!

Hmmm, I'm stumped on your thread conundrum, too! I think I'm leaning toward cream. I adore your Summer Sampler quilt!! I really love how you sashed your blocks, they look amazing, as do your 4x5 blocks!
ReplyDeleteI also would lean toward cream for the quilting. I always struggle with quilting thread choice! What we did at my quilter is to unravel some of the thread and lay it on top of the quilt and you can see a bit better how it will work.
ReplyDeleteLove your 4x5 blocks! And have fun blueberry picking. My garden is totally covered in weeds too. Somehow the deer are still eating the plants and not the weeds!!
My, you have been busy!
ReplyDeleteYour sampler quilt is stunning.
Love your quilt tops, especially the sampler. I really need to make that one. I love how you framed the blocks. I would choose cream thread as well. I usually stick to the safe side when it comes to quilting thread colors.
ReplyDeleteI also love your 4x5 blocks. Did you use a specific tutorial? They came out great.
Def. cream thread Michelle....your quilts turned out lovely..I really really like your summer sampler...
ReplyDeleteI would probably use a medium green colour thread....love the Kaleidoscope quilt!
ReplyDeleteYour Summer Sampler is such a stunner! Wow - that sashing is just amazing! Very clever & great result! Fun 4x5 blocks too!!
ReplyDeleteI think the cream thread would be best as to not take away from quilt itself, but I am sure whatever you choose will be wonderful! I love your "little" harvest!
ReplyDeleteOh. My. Goodness. YOur summer series is SO beautiful!!! I just love it! I can't wait to get mine together!!! And the Kaleidoscope is beautiful too! I vote green thread! :)
ReplyDeleteI know I said it before but I love your Summer Sampler! The kaleidoscope is so nice, too. I would choose cream to quilt it...can't wait to see what you end up doing with it!
ReplyDeleteTWO quilt tops finished in a week?? I'm doing a happy dance for you. That's wonderful! Just beautiful. Have fun getting blueberries. :)
ReplyDeletewow!! busy lady!! I adore both of those quilt tops, I love how you used the different solids in your kaleidoscope. I would do either cream or white thread for quilting. Can't wait to see these all quilted!!
ReplyDeleteCasting my vote for green as the thread color. Your quilt looks great! And I love those bee blocks. Very fun!
ReplyDeleteOh, both of your quilts are lovely!
ReplyDeleteGreat progress! Love those 4x5 blocks. And your kaleidoscope top looks fantastic! I think I'd be brave and go with green thread.
ReplyDeleteI love the layout you chose for the kaleidoscope quilt, looks great. I also like the different colors you framed the blocks of the sampler with, what a good idea.
