Works in Progress, 2/29/12

For the past few weeks,
every time I think about writing a WIP post,
I decide that I would rather sew than blog, and skip it!

Sometimes I wonder,
why am I spending so much time doing this?

Anyway, with these thoughts in mind,
I'll keep this short and sweet -- and then go sew!

Sparkle QAL quilt, finished last week!

 Blocks for do.Good Stitches

Starting some granny squares -- love these!

Trying to work up some bravery and get this one quilted --
it's so cool that I don't want to ruin it by quilting it in a way that wouldn't suit the scallops.  It's tricky!
If I can get it finished up by Friday,
I may enter it into the Tangerine Tango Challenge.

Loving Curves

 One step at a time . . .
. . . and I'm loving . . .
 . . . . sewing curves!
(Pattern/tutorial by Rachel at Stitched in Color,
courtesy of her Curves Class.)
Now, I just need to decide how to quilt this!
Any thoughts?!?!

Sewing Curves

I can't believe it!

I've never sewn curves,
and I didn't know it could be this easy and fun!

I'm taking Rachel's Curves Class,
and this is the first project I've tried.
(I've been working way too much this month,
and haven't had much time to sew.)
When I started on this project,
I wasn't sure if I could make it work!
So I did the tree as one piece instead of following
Rachel's instructions for a scrappy tree with lots of curves.

Thanks so much for a fabulous project
with wonderful instructions, Rachel!

I will definitely be making another one
of these mini quilts,
probably in mid-December,
with reds and greens,
and will definitely make the tree curvy scrappy!

Love

This might be one of my favorite projects in a long time.
Love this little pillow!
Made with Kelly's paper-pieced "love" template,
and AMH fabric scraps.
Hand quilted with #8 perle cotton,
while watching Downton Abbey.

Feb 8, 2012

Lots of projects in progress this week. . .

 Still experimenting with asterisks --
this little quilt is going to turn into a pillow,
someday.

 Making progress on my
What do you think about the combination
of pebble quilting and hand quilting?
I haven't decided yet if it's great or a bit too much!

 Blocks from Faith's

I'm working on pillows for the girls' beds,
made with scraps leftover from their quilts.
And pink pom-poms!
I'll post more photos of their room
once I get it picked up a bit!

And here's my new little friend.
After many weeks spent under our bed all day,
our little kitty is coming out a bit.
And her favorite spot to "hang out" (literally)
is under my ironing board.
I just hope she doesn't try to play with (or eat) the cord.

Happy Wednesday!
