In progress . . .

Just a quick little "works in progress" update today --
I've finally finished up my mini quilt for
the Doll Quilt Swap 13!
Here's a sneak peak:
 I have also been pattern testing for Kristy of Quiet Play -- she's releasing her paper pieced alphabet soon!  Aren't the letter shapes great?!  I think I might try "LOVE" next -- I have a few Valentine's Day projects in mind.
 And I'm turning some of my girls' old shirts and baby clothes into pillows -- isn't this one cute?  I just need to decide on a fabric for the back and get it sewn together.
Hope you're all having a lovely week!

Lucky Square Quilt

Have you seen Jess' new pattern?
Here is a baby sized version of her
Isn't it cute?
I was so lucky to be able to test out the pattern for her.  It's a really fun, quick, easy pattern.  I used fabrics from my stash in blues, greens and oranges, but I think it would be great in scraps, too.  It was so much fun to make that I think I may whip up another one soon!

I quilted in diagonal lines, then quilted straight lines in the sashing, too.
I love the back, too -- it takes so much energy to piece a back, but it is so worth it!

Happiness is . . .

. . . a free Friday, all to myself, to sew!
After sewing a few blocks together this morning,
I remembered that snow makes an excellent backdrop for fabric photos!
(eeekkk!!! just realized I need to re-do the one on the right, the right side is reversed!)
These are the first blocks in the Sister's Ten BOM series;
fabrics are Kate Spain's Central Park.

 I'm also loving Elizabeth's Lucky Stars Paper Piecing block of the month series!
 Above is the practice block;
below is the January block.
After I finished the 12" block, I realized that I had enough scraps to make the smaller sized block, too.  How great is that?!

Works in Progress, 1/2/13

We had lots of wonderful family time this Holiday season,
but were gone for more than a week!
I am so happy to be home and be able to sew again!
I actually started 3 new projects yesterday . . .

Lucky Stars Block of the Month for January:

Pulled fabrics for a baby boy quilt:

Started working on my DQS13:

And I am debating what to do with these blocks:
(I put them together 1 or 2 years ago, and they've never found their way into a quilt top)
I just don't feel motivated to work on a Christmasy Quilt after Christmas!

And here are a couple of Christmas gifts that I didn't have time to write about before we left on our Holiday travels -- pouches and American girl sleeping bags.
