Not too much going on this week . . .
getting ready to pick a winner on my little giveaway tomorrow.
(The giveaway consists of one pincushion, 3 adorable fish pin toppers,
and a fat quarter of Heather Ross' lightning bugs fabric.)
Other than that, a few fabrics arrived in the mail this week, and I need to decide which one to use for binding my Bottled Rainbows quilt.
I'd love some advice!
Did you see the tutorial on Moda Bake Shop for Angela's cathedral window pillows few weeks ago? I love cathedral windows -- I tried to do some by hand a year ago, and wasn't too happy with how they looked. But sewing them by machine is definitely do-able! Angela's instructions are great for ironing the squares, too -- I had tried making some in the past with some instructions that my Grandma had given me, but they didn't turn out as nicely as the new ones I just made.
Just practicing with some scraps -- this might end up as a pincushion! |
Same story with this one -- I'm going to have quite a few pincushions, I think! |
12 gray Kona squares, all ready to go!
Hopefully I'll have this project finished by next week.
And I'm still hand quilting circles on my double hourglass quilt -- 20 done, 36 to go!
As usual on Wednesdays, I'm linking up to Freshly Pieced:
I'd pick one of th remix prints for the binding, but I'm clearly biased. :) That black polka dot could be really cool too.
ReplyDeleteI like the stripes or the zig-zag print. Your cathedral windows look great! They are on my "someday" list. I love the grey Kona. One of my favorites.Way to go on the hand quilting.
ReplyDeleteMay I suggest for the binding of your Bottled Rainbows quilt, the print with zig-zag reflects a similiar pattern created by the pinking edges element of your blocks?
ReplyDeletemy humble vote would be the zig-zag. the projects in your other photos look very cool too!

Of the binding choices i'd go for the stripe or zig zag.
ReplyDeleteThe black polka dot would be cool, but so would the Remix zig-zag, that would be awesome!
ReplyDeleteI like the blue fabric with white circles for the binding. Reminds me of clouds, perfect for a rainbow quilt!
ReplyDeleteI love that zig zag print!! I must have missed that bake shop tutorial, cathedral windows have been on my want to try list for some time now, will have to check it out, yours look great!!
ReplyDeleteI sure hope the pincushion is coming my way! ;)
ReplyDeleteI'd go with the stripes or zig-zag to bind your Bottle Rainbows. I just love striped bindings!
That quilt is beautiful and I would suggest the zigzag stripe for the binding.
ReplyDeleteI really like the Remix stripe for the binding. And I wish I were that far along with Bottled Rainbows!
ReplyDeleteIf it was my quilt, I would use the black polka dot. There is so much color in the quilt, I would need something to ground it.
ReplyDeleteLOVE all your projects! You're very talented! I'm going to have to subscribe to your blog! :) I love the striped fabric for the binding on your BR quilt! :) Going to have to enter your giveaway too! Those pincushions are adorable!!
ReplyDeleteI would choose the remix stripe for the binding. Love your bottled rainbows quilt. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteI will have to check out the cathedrals tutorial. Thanks. I love the look but had no interest in hand quilting them.
ah, I love the two mini takes on the cathedral windows. I did a couple cathedral windows in gray - i think that's an awesome color for them!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the hourglass - red and green is my fav color combo!
good luck with your expert sewing projects, hand quilting and cathedral windows! I'm not ready for such a challenge but one day I'll get there! beautiful projects!
ReplyDeleteOooh, so many good choices for binding your Bottled Rainbows, but I like one of the rainbow prints. I've seen those on other Bottled Rainbow quilts and they just seem like perfection! I can't wait to see your cathedral windows, those are on my to-do list. Thanks for linking up to WIP Wednesday. : )
ReplyDeleteWow, those cathedral windows look great! I say fabric 1 or 4 for the binding! Because I will be doing the same myself! I will be using the zig zag for a border, then the stripe for the binding!
ReplyDeleteI am thinking the rainbow stripe would be lovely!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your cathedral windows! What an undertaking! I can't wait to watch it come together!
ReplyDeleteBinding - I don't know. The zigzag is calling my name, but so is the blue... I think it's a win no matter what you decide!
I like the stripes or the zig zag, but the black dots would definitely be a bold statement. The cathedral windows look great!
ReplyDeleteI like the stripes, probably just because I love that particular fabric, or the zig zag would be excellent too! That Bottled Rainbows is going to be beautiful done. Your cathedral windows look gorgeous too :-)
ReplyDeleteZigzag rainbow! Fussy cut it and it will look like bias cut fabric? Take a peek at my tut for cathedral windows if you want to. I do it a bit differently i think! Have fun with the pips they are great!
ReplyDeleteI vote for the zig zag rainbows. :)
ReplyDeleteI think all of those would be great binding fabrics! The cathedral windows are looking good.
ReplyDeleteLove the circles on the hourglasses!! And Oh!!! Love that apple cathedral and can't wait to see the Kona gray project!
