Just a couple of quick pictures from our Thanksgiving weekend -- next it's on to decorating for Christmas!  The felt garland idea comes from  The quilted tree hanging on our front door is something I just made up -- inspired by the Whip Up Mini Quilts book by Kathreen Ricketson.  The tree is brown fleece leftover from making a stuffed sheep for Lexi, and the leaves are scraps of fabric I had left from other projects.  The girls helped me place the leaves in various spots, and then I quilted around the edges.  I finished the binding last Saturday while watching their swimming lessons.  I've figured out that I can usually finish a small quilt binding during a 1/2 hour of swimming lessons!

Starting a Blog

This place we call home is an old house in the city, which we've remodeled extensively. Our entire house really is a studio--the basement table is permanently covered in paint, my sewing machine sits on the dining room table, and the living room "coffee table" is really an art table. There are handmade pictures all over our walls, quilts everywhere, and many knitting projects scattered about. And we wouldn't have it any other way! My little artists (5 yr old twins Holly & Lexi) are busy with creations of all kinds, and I try to fit in as much sewing, quilting, and knitting as I can! Thanks for visiting our "city house studio!"

I have so enjoyed reading lots of sewing/quilting/crafty blogs this past year!  I've been thinking about starting my own for the longest time, and am now finally getting started!

We've had a fun year creating things . . . I think it was about a year ago that I moved my sewing machine to the dining room table, and started quilting again seriously.  Last fall I made a Christmas quilt and free motion quilted it with the girls close by, working on their own projects.  Holly and Lexi are such enthusiastic artists.  They love to color, paint, draw, and create, and have joined me at the dining room table for many hours of creating.

This blog will be a place to post the girls artwork, to share some of our projects, and help us remember all of the fun we have together!
