Easy Double Hourglass Quilt

I'm using Allison's tutorial for her easy double hourglass quilt (find it at  And it really is easy.  The blocks are quick to make, and fun to piece -- they come together quickly.  Now I just need to decide on a layout.
I had some helpers this afternoon, and of course Holly and Lexi each had their own ideas about how to lay out the quilt squares.
They're dressed alike because it was "twins" day at school.  They wore the same dresses, fleece pants, AND their Minnesota Twins baseball hats.  It was cute.

Layout 1
Red-Print-Green (repeat)
Layout 2
Red-Print-Red-Green-Red-Print-Red-Green (etc.)

I think I like layout 1 better, but what do you think?
(I didn't lay out all the quilt blocks yet, just a few rows to get an idea of how the different layouts would look.  And this space on the floor wasn't quite big enough!)

Linking up to . . . .

  1. i like them both and am impressed!
but i like one a little better.

    how cute -- twins day : )

  2. I think I like 2 better, but I feel bad for all those left over blocks. :). Very nice squares!

  3. Both beautiful! I prefer layout 1.

  4. Cute! I'm a big fan of layout number 1. :)

  5. I love your blocks and I too like layout number one better. Can't wait to see it all together.

  6. I like layout number 1, but they're both beautiful! I love this pattern.

Thanks for linking up to WIP Wednesday! Have a great week. : )

  7. Really pretty! I like layout one better because the print is better distributed throughout the quilt top. Either one would be awesome though!

  8. I like layout 1 too!

  9. I vote for layout one too.
