Zakka Style

Project #3, Pincushion
What a cute little project this was!
It would be fun to make these as gifts for sewing friends!

Project #1, Tote

For the quilting I used the triple stitch on my old Elna sewing machine -- I think it makes the stitches almost look like hand embroidery!  I had read on someone's blog (can't remember who!) about how they used a double stitch to finish off bags, and how it gives the bag a more professional look.  My machine doesn't have a double stitch, but I'm  happy to have found it's triple stitch.  It takes awhile, but I love the look!
Fabrics are Katie Jump Rope scraps,
leftover from my Swoon quilt
 (which is still not finished)!
This has been a really fun sew-along, so far.
I'd definitely recommend the book,

  1. Your pincushion is adorable! I finished mine last night, but yours is cuter. :)

  3. Great job on both the tote and the pincushion. I've yet to catch up with the pincushion, but having sent a couple of open boxes that were beside my sewing machine flying in the last couple of weeks, I really need to get onto it!

  7. I love both of your projects. The two rows of ricrac are so sweet! And the organized scrappy zigzags are beautiful on your bag. If I didn't already have this book, I'd run out and get it today!
